01 — Biography

An engineer who ships his own products

Dimroid is not a company he manages from a distance. He writes most of what it ships.

Taiwo studies Electronics and Computer Engineering at Lagos State University's Epe campus, and has been writing software commercially alongside it — automation scripts, scrapers and desktop tools built for businesses that needed them and could not justify a foreign subscription to get them.

That freelance work became a company. He incorporated Dimroid Technologies Ltd as a private company limited by shares on 10 February 2025, under CAC registration number 8255380, once the volume of work outgrew what one person could sensibly invoice for.

His engineering position is a practical one: the tools Nigerian businesses need mostly exist already, but are priced for wallets earning in dollars. Converted into naira, a reasonable subscription becomes an unreasonable one. So he builds the local alternative — same job, priced for the market actually using it, and often sold outright rather than rented.

He works almost entirely in Python and Django, and designs products the same way each time: a shared infrastructure layer at dimroid.com that every subsequent product inherits, so that licensing, updates, payments and content are solved once rather than rebuilt per project.

02 — The grant

₦50 million, for a product he built

The Student Venture Capital Grant, awarded by the Federal Ministry of Education for D-Rentals.

₦50M S-VCG · 1 of 45 winners · from 30,000+ applicants

Equity-free funding from the Federal Ministry of Education's Student Venture Capital Grant programme, selected from a national field of more than 30,000 applicants. The company gave up no ownership to receive it.

D-Rentals came directly out of being a LASU Epe student. Finding accommodation near campus meant fragmented WhatsApp groups, unverified agents and word of mouth — with no trusted platform anywhere in the process.

He built the answer as a solo project under Dimroid: a proptech platform linking students to housing, and to the landlords and agents behind it, with verified listings, separate account types for students, agents and property owners, and direct messaging between them. It runs today at drentals.dimroid.com, backed by a signed partnership with the LASU Students' Union Government.

The grant funds taking it beyond one campus. The accommodation problem it solves is identical in every university town in Nigeria.
